SDI Technologies
SDI Technologies is the name of a consumer electronics manufacturer whose products are marketed under several national brands, including Timex, Sylvania, and iHome. They used to market under Soundesign, a now defunct brand. They are affiliated with KIDdesigns, a manufacturer of child-oriented toys and games. SDI Technologies employed 110 in 2007, and has a distribution network that covers over 45 countries. Including Asia, SDI employs over 400 people.
History
SDI Technologies was founded in 1956. In that year, they introduced one of the first pocket cigarette lighters and transistor radios.

- 1970: Introduced the world’s first Stereo Rack System
- 1972: Introduced the world’s first cassette clock radio
- 1983: Introduced the world’s first telephone clock radio
- 1989: Introduced KIDdesigns division to market Playskool toys
- 1993: Signed license agreements with Timex & Zenith to market audio electronics.
- 2005: Introduced the world’s first iPod Clock Radio.
- 2007: Signed license agreements with SanDisk and Microsoft to market audio electronics for the Sansa and Zune.
